An intimate gathering at Casita Irizarry for those who help others heal

What happens when we step out of our professional roles and simply experience creativity together?

Join us at Casita Irizarry for a special Rhythmic Circle created for therapists, art therapists, counselors, social workers, educators, bodyworkers, wellness practitioners, artists, and others whose work supports the wellbeing of others.

This gathering is an invitation to experience, connect, listen, play, and imagine what we might create together.

Inside the creative environment of Casita Irizarry, surrounded by art, nature, instruments, and the Five Elements, we will explore rhythm through drums, percussion, found objects, movement, and listening.

You might create a rhythm, follow someone else's rhythm, move with the music, listen quietly, or simply be present. There is no musical or movement experience necessary.

After our rhythmic experience, we'll gather for conversation and reflection. We'll explore how creative and nature-based practices might complement the work we each do and consider possibilities for future collaboration, shared experiences, workshops, and community offerings at Casita Irizarry.

This is the beginning of a creative community.

My vision for Casita Irizarry is to create a small, welcoming space where different disciplines and perspectives can meet—where art, rhythm, movement, nature, and the Five Elements can become bridges between people and approaches to healing.

This gathering is an opportunity to meet one another, experience the space, share ideas, and begin discovering what we might create together.

An Adult & Child Creative Open Studio at Casita Irizarry

When: October 24th
Time: 10am to 12 noon
Location: Casita Irizarry, Salem, Oregon (Exact address will be given upon reservation)
Who: Children and their parent, grandparent, or other adult creative companion
Materials: Recycled, natural, and found materials provided

🎃 Create • Imagine • Animate • Share

Step into the imaginative world of Casita Irizarry for a playful Halloween-season Open Studio where children and their grown-ups become artists, sculptors, storytellers, and animators together.

Using recycled bottles, cardboard, paper, twine, bottle caps, natural materials, and other found objects, each child and adult will create their own unique monster or magical creature.

But the creative journey doesn’t end with making the creatures!

Once the sculptures are complete, we will introduce the basics of stop-motion animation and learn how to bring our creations to life. Each child and adult will have the opportunity to participate in animating their own creature and creating a short imaginative story together.

Perhaps the creatures will meet, dance, explore, transform, fly, or embark on a little adventure!

At the end of our experience, we’ll gather for a special Casita Creature Showcase, where we will watch the animations we created together.

What we’ll experience

🎨 Imagine — Give your creature a name, personality, movement, and story.

🎬 Animate — Learn the playful basics of stop-motion animation and bring your creature to life.

🤝 Create Together — Both the child and adult create their own creature and participate in the animation process.

📽️ Celebrate — End the morning with a mini screening of our Casita Creature animations!

Halloween costumes are welcome, and creatures don’t have to be scary. They can be funny, friendly, mysterious, magical, elemental, or completely of your own imagination.

This is an opportunity to slow down, make something together, experiment with new media, and experience the joy of watching an ordinary recycled object become a character with a life of its own.

There is no required admission fee. Donations are gratefully welcomed and help support the continued growth of Casita Irizarry, including art materials, creative programming, and future healing experiences.

Space is limited to allow everyone plenty of time and creative attention.
